Inclusion
Meet the Inclusion Team
Mrs Sidhu - Deputy Head Teacher / Inclusion Manager
My name is Mrs Sidhu and I joined Grange Primary School in 2017 as the school's Assistant Head/Inclusion Manager; I was impressed with the nurturing ethos of the school and simply fell in love with the school. I became a SENDco due to my experience of looking after family members with a disability as a young carer. I understand the challenges families can face and how important it is to access support/services, when this is possible to do so.
I am a trained teacher with a Primary Education Degree and a Masters Degree in Education. As such I have a passion for developing teaching and learning practices to promote inclusive practice for all. One of the highlights of my teaching career was working voluntarily in Gambia, where I considered how best to use multisensory approaches with limited resources.
Mrs Dodwell - Assistant SENDCo / Well-Being Lead
My Name is Natasha Dodwell, I am the Assistant SENDCo, a Year 4 teacher and I am also the Wellbeing lead for Grange. I have worked at Grange for many years in different roles. In my present role as Assistant SENDCo, I am responsible for supporting students that may require additional support to access learning and reach their potential. I oversee the provision for students with EHCP's, carry out reviews and liaise with specialist settings and external professional when necessary. I am committed to facilitating an engaging, inspiring and nurturing learning environment that meets the needs of all students.
I believe children should feel empowered and confident when faced with challenges and actively promote emotional intelligence, resilience, tolerance, understanding and compassion in line with our school values.
Mrs Kuras - Class Teacher / English as Additional Language Lead
My name is Anna Kuras and I am a Year 1 Class Teacher. I also support the school in the EAL field by providing EAL strategies and resources to staff and children. I deliver workshops for the EAL parents and organise the EAL assemblies to celebrate other languages and cultures at our school. I have been teaching in Ealing primary schools for other 17 years, mainly as a KS1 Class Teacher and an EAL teacher for newly arrived children without English. I started at Grange in 2014. I have been always interested in bilingualism and I have a Masters degree in Bilingual Translation.
I believe that being bilingual is extremely beneficial and it strengthens our cognitive abilities. Usually, bilingual children are more creative, flexible and open-minded. They also find it easier to focus on a variety of tasks simultaneously. I am enthusiastic about promoting inclusive practice for those whose English is an additional language.
Mrs Hoad - Class Teacher / English as Additional Language Lead
My name is Tamasine Hoad and I am a Year 3 Class Teacher. I have been a class teacher for over 20 years and 8 of those years as a specialist EAL teacher. I am passionate about promoting inclusive practice for those whose English is an additional language.
Mrs Campbell - Safeguarding Officer
My name is Yola Campbell and I am the Grange Primary School Safeguarding Officer. Safeguarding includes many things such as: helping families in need, working with external professionals, providing food bank vouchers, signposting families to support services, or sometimes just having a supporting chat to a parent about their child. In additional to this, we try our best to look after the emotional wellbeing of all our students. I run the 'Grange Space' which gives each and every child access to a 1:1 safe space if they feel they need it. I also run ELSA groups and ELSA 1:1 sessions. This is for children with more specific emotional or mental health needs. Sometimes the groups are great, just for some social skills!
I am a qualified ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) and use my skills to support the children through their normal day to day emotions. Please feel free to ask for me the office or send me an email via the admin email address.

If so, please book in a session with Mrs Sidhu. You have the option to meet in person or have a telephone meeting.
Book via admin@grange.ealing.sch.uk and include:

Professionals at Grange Primary School
- Speech and Language Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Educational Psychologists
- Visual Impairment Team
- Hearing Impairment Team
Please be aware that there is a national shortage of therapists within the services above.
Parents are unable to make direct referrals. This will be made by either professionals or the school. Once a referral has been made, there is a long waiting list and not all referrals are accepted. At present, no new referrals are being accepted by the Occupational Therapy service due to an extensive waiting list. For speech and language therapy referrals, a screening process will take place first. The speech and language therapist will advise next steps to the school after the screening process.
Concerns
If you have a concern about your child's learning or behaviour, follow these steps:
1. Speak to your child's class teacher as he/she will know your child's needs, learning and behaviour best to advise on what can be done within the classroom context. The class teacher will raise any other enquiries within the school e.g. SEND/Pastoral team and feedback to parents; at times, specific teams will feedback to parents/carers.
2. Speak to your child's GP as they can explore medical needs to rule out any other difficulties. The GP can also make referrals to other agencies, e.g. child development team/CAMHS etc.
3. Make a hearing and vision appointment for your child to rule out any other need (this process has helped many children to hear and see better, so we strongly advise this)
4. Contact the external agencies below for support in the home (parent feedback is that they are very useful, supportive and understand family life)

Well-Being Support
Well-being is an important aspect as higher levels of well-being are associated with decreased risk of disease, illness, and injury; better immune functioning; speedier recovery; and increased longevity. Individuals with high levels of well-being are more productive at work and are more likely to contribute to their communities.
As such, Grange Primary School has a dedicated well-being team, who meet regularly and consider well-being support in range of ways:
- Well-being governor;
- Staff surveys twice a year;
- Pupil surveys that focus on particular areas of well-being;
- Well-being bulletin that supports all members of the school community;
- Well-being activities/events across the curriculum;
- Well-being calendar;
- Posters promoting well-being;
- Well-being activities for staff and parents e.g. yoga/mindfulness;
- Grange Space (listening service for all pupils to express their worries/concerns); and
- Book of Beasties (well-being programme)
Our well-being lead is Mrs Dodwell (Assistant SENDco/ Well-being Lead)
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
We are proud to have children at Grange Primary School who can speak different languages.
We have two class based teachers who have knowledge of EAL provision and support staff through resources and training.
Mrs Kuras (Year 1 Teacher/EAL Specialist) and Mrs Hoad (Year 3/EAL Specialist)
At Grange Primary School, we offer the following:
• EAL assemblies to celebrate and share different languages;
• Display boards to showcase different languages;
• Parent workshops to offer strategies on how children can be supported at home with their learning, led by the two EAL specialists.
• EAL interventions across the school
• Ongoing advice and training for teachers with newly arrived EAL children, including learning packs
• As a school we have an access to very good EAL websites by Gordon Ward with lots of interactive EAL games.
If you require further information, please speak to the class teacher in the first instance.
Medical
Individual Health Care Plans (IHCP) are designed to keep children with diagnosed medical conditions safe, well and involved at school. It is a written document that specifies your child’s diagnosed medical and mental health condition and the help that the school can provide for your child and what to do if there is a medical emergency.
IHCPs are kept confidentially in school and are only shared with those who support your child.
It is very important that our school is advised of a child’s medical or mental health condition to ensure that we hold the right information to support your child.
The IHCP will be reviewed yearly; unless parents/carers or professionals advise of any medical changes within the year.
Family Support
My name is Yola Campbell and I am the Grange Primary School Safeguarding Officer.
Safeguarding includes many things such as: helping families in need, working with external professionals, providing food bank vouchers, signposting families to support services, or sometimes just having a supportive conversation to a parent about their child.
In addition to this, at Grange Primary School, we try out best to look after the emotional wellbeing of all our students. I run the “Grange Space” which gives each and every child access to 1:1 safe space If they feel they need it.
