Design & Technology
At our school, Design and Technology encourages children to become creative thinkers, problem solvers and innovative designers. Through practical experiences, pupils learn how ideas can be turned into real products that solve problems and improve everyday life.
Our approach reflects our school values of compassion, honesty, respect, confidence, curiosity and resilience, helping children develop both academically and personally.
As a Rights Respecting School, we aim for every child to become a well-rounded individual with strong skills, knowledge and confidence, ready to understand their place in the world and make a positive difference.
Our Design and Technology curriculum aims to inspire children to:
-
Design products that solve real and relevant problems in a variety of contexts
-
Develop creativity and imagination when planning and making
-
Build and test prototypes, improving their ideas through evaluation
-
Understand the impact of design and technology on daily life and the wider world
-
Use technical vocabulary and practical skills that develop progressively across year groups
-
Work safely and responsibly when using tools and materials
Children experience the three key strands of Design and Technology:
-
Food Technology
-

-
Engineering
We also ensure pupils see how Design and Technology connects to the real world, including learning about significant designers, engineers and innovators from diverse backgrounds.
